Story 012 | The Two Paths and the Broken Hearts
A long time ago in America, the law said that black children
and white children had to go to different schools. They called it “separate but
equal,” but the schools for black children were often not the same at all. A
little girl named Linda Brown just wanted to go to the school near her house.
Finally, the Supreme Court looked at the hearts and minds of the children. They
realized that making children stay apart just because of their skin color makes
them feel “inferior” in a way that can never be undone. They declared that “separate
is never equal” and opened the doors for everyone to walk together. Can you
really be “equal” if you are forced to stay on a different path?
